What you can expect from Squiggle Collective

The methods we use are simple, but scarce.

Our methods and approaches are centred on our flagship model for aligning vision and strategy with capability and systems to bring sustainable change.

We uncover possibilities through the practice of deliberate framing and making strategic choices.

We work collaboratively alongside our clients to facilitate outcomes that have people at the heart. We don’t pretend to know what you know. Rather, we work with you to uncover and articulate the simplest and most compelling version of what you already know to be true. We help you to articulate that future for yourself, your team, and your leaders.

  • We are confident in our approach, and humble in our presence.

  • We never pretend to be the expert if we are not. We always aim to be the facilitator.

  • We use methdologies where it makes sense, and intuition and insight where they don’t.

  • We believe in seeking the perspectives of others.

  • We believe in iteration, dancing in messiness, and non-linear approaches.

  • We don’t believe in “right” answers.

When a client’s problem demands scale or multi-disciplinary expertise we partner with professionals who share our values of delivery excellence and integrity.

Why Squiggle Collective exists

Hey there! I’m Kristine Posthumus, Founder and Managing Director of Brisbane-based strategy firm, Squiggle Collective.

Squiggle Collective was founded 2023 after a varied - you might say a squiggly - career.

Over the years I found myself as a sustainability analyst, a project manager, a waste-to-energy specialist, an insurance claims consultant, an innovation program lead, a wage clerk, a program manager for a large-scale energy transformation effort, a business development manager, and ultimately, a strategy consultant: trained by one of the world’s best strategy firms - Monitor Deloitte.

At the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic I left Deloitte to join the public sector. This career move had been a long time coming. I always had a sense that meaningful contribution might be found in public sector work if you had the right role at the right level and were surrounded by the right people.

I was tasked with establishing an internal consulting capability, and designing and implementing operating model change from within, This was a uniquely humbling, challenging, and rewarding experience that has innately shaped what Squiggle Collective stands for today.

Our worldview

Organisations are collections of human beings trying to get stuff done within the constraints they face.

Some of these constraints are real, while many are perceived.

Often there are more choices available to us than we are immediately aware of.

Our role is to uncover those choices and help you to make the best ones.

A multi-disciplinary approach

Bringing and seeking alternate views about problems and solutions is a cornerstone of Squiggle Collective’s philosophy.

Through working in lots of different roles with lots of different people from lots of different places, educations, and cultures, I developed a deep appreciation of perspective and the importance of context.

Learning about mis-en-plas as an apprentice chef, taught me about planning and scheduling in chaotic environments, which I later built upon as a project manager.

Working in sustainability, I learned about solving wicked problems, managing stakeholders with competing interests, and the importance of narrative, all of which shaped my views about engagement.

Leading my first large-scale transformation program in a developing country, I learned really quickly to get comfortable with ambiguity and to muck-in when something needed doing - a disposition that has proved essential as a strategist.

My commitment to clients is to stand alongside you to collaboratively build strategic perspectives, narratives, and the capacity to create a path through ambiguity, and bring others with you on that path.

About Kristine

Hi, I’m Kristine Posthumus.

I’m an advisor, facilitator, coach, and doer with a background in strategic change in large bureacratic organisations.

I’m also a recovering bureaucrat who writes about my experiences of unsquiggling complex business problems, with people in mind.

I am passionate about helping public sector leaders to expand their capability and capacity for strategic thinking. While I still doing a lot of “doing” through consulting engagements, I derive the greatest pleasure from working with leaders in an advisory, coaching and training capacity - to hold their hand through the journey to greater influence and impact.
